About K&C

What is Known & Cited?

Known & Cited is a UK GEO consultancy and GEO-led PR partner, founded by Russ Read-Barrow and based in Bath. We measure how AI engines cite and recommend brands across the buyer funnel, then run the strategy that changes the answer.

Is Known & Cited a law firm or patent attorney?

No. We measure and improve how AI engines cite brands. We have nothing to do with legal citations, patents or trade marks.

The three products

What are AI See, AI Think and AI Do?

Our three measurement products, one per funnel stage. AI See: does AI name you at all? AI Think: how does AI describe you? AI Do: does AI put you in the buying shortlist? Each carries its own five-band scale, so a score always lands with meaning attached.

Which product should I start with?

Start where the funnel hurts. If you don't know whether AI names you, start with AI See; most brands do. If you're named but misdescribed, AI Think. If you're described well but missing from shortlists, AI Do.

Can I buy more than one?

Yes. They sequence naturally (See, then Think, then Do) and share one methodology, so scores are comparable across products and cycles.

Pricing and how we quote

How much does a K&C report cost?

Two ways: bespoke for a single one-off report, or from £475 per month on subscription. The Bi-Annual subscription delivers two reports a year from £475 per month; the Quarterly delivers four reports a year plus monthly contact from £900 per month. A set-up fee applies to subscriptions. Multi-country and Enhanced builds are scoped bespoke.

Why don't you publish the one-off price?

Because one-off scope genuinely varies: brand, market, question set and engine coverage all move the work. We quote quickly and in writing; ask and you'll have a number within days.

Are there any discounts?

Annual prepay takes 10% off the year on either subscription.

How are services priced?

Per engagement. AI-led PR runs on a 15% referral model through our partner network. AI-led Copywriting and AI-led Technical Guidance are quoted per engagement. AI Discovery starts from £1,000.

Methodology

How do you measure?

With a methodology built on the AMEC GEO Principles: personas, journey stages, sub-products and buying factors combined into the question set your real buyers put to AI. Around 6,000 AI responses per report, sampled over a seven-day window, scored 0 to 100 with published weights: AI Visibility 40%, Source Quality 30%, Narrative Fit 30%.

Which AI engines do you measure?

ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Perplexity as standard, measured at the consumer tier your buyers actually see. Additional engines, including Claude, Copilot and Grok, added on client request.

Where are the humans in the loop?

At six named checkpoints: prompt design, source triage, sentiment read, recommendation shortlist, executive commentary and final QA. The machine crunches; the team judges.

The Discovery Exec Brief

What is the Discovery Exec Brief?

Our free gateway: a real measurement of your AI visibility running on 600 to 1,000 data points, delivered as a structured brief with one recommendation. Capped at five applications per month.

Why do you charge £750 if I don't respond?

Because the brief carries real analyst time and more data points than many paid products. If you take it and don't come back with a decision within a month, we charge £750 retrospectively. We tell you before you apply; free means free for people who engage.

The data-dump question

Isn't this just a data dump?

No, and it's a fair question, because the default mental model is "you just asked ChatGPT and screenshotted it". Here's the honest version. The measurement layer is real: we sample multiple AI engines at the consumer tier, the version your buyer actually sees, with around 6,000 responses per report over a seven-day window and engine-by-engine source attribution, tracked over time. The thinking layer is what turns data into something useful: a K&C analyst reviews the run at six named points (prompt design, source triage, sentiment read, recommendation shortlist, executive commentary, final QA), the question set is designed against the AMEC GEO Principles, and recommendations are ranked by effort versus impact and tagged with an owner. Anyone can ask ChatGPT about their brand. What that won't give you is a defensible, repeatable, methodology-backed read that combines AI data crunching with team expertise. That's the difference between a screenshot and a report.

Working with us

What happens after the report?

Delivery, if you want it. AI-led PR through our partner network, AI-led Copywriting in-house, AI-led Technical Guidance for the on-site fixes. Every recommendation in the report is owner-tagged, so you always know what's K&C, what's your team, and what's a partner.

How long does a report take?

A full report runs on a seven-day measurement window plus analysis and human review. Expect delivery within three to four weeks of kick-off, depending on scope.

Do you guarantee results?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. GEO is young. We guarantee a defensible measurement, a clear reading, and recommendations we'd stake our name on.
